My Piece of the Puzzle
A seasoned communications and PR pro, I bring a strategic outlook combined with nuanced storytelling chops to help advance the mission of reDesign and through connection, resonance, and impact.
My Background
I’ve always loved stories and believe in the power of story telling to build connections, inspire, and transform the world and the experience of the world around us. I’ve spent most of my career working in marketing and communications across the education, business, and sustainability sectors. For more than 15+ years I have run my own consulting practice with a focus on strategic communications, where I provided counsel and leadership to organizations, companies, and nonprofits alike seeking to grow their brand through partnerships, media relations, and communications. Prior to that I worked for startups in the ed tech industry, was the marketing director for a national education nonprofit, and worked for Smithsonian Magazine.
I gravitate towards PR with purpose, and have garnered earned media for social justice campaigns that range from breaking the cycle of poverty through education, to fines and fees, D&I in the workforce, and unconscious bias in healthcare. Placements include national media outlets and the trades, and range from The Washington Post, Forbes, and HR Dive to The Hechinger Report, Education Week, and EdSurge.
As part of the reDesign team, I am passionate about bringing my skills and experience in communications to do great work, be of service, and make a difference in the world.
I have a dual degree (B.A.) in history and anthropology from the University of Maryland, and I live with my family in the Washington, DC area.
What Brings Me Joy in the World
I love a good road trip, spending time in nature, being with my son and our pets, and going to a baseball game. Visiting mineral hot springs ranks pretty high up on my list of favorite things to do, and Flamenco is a new found passion!
What I’ve Been Inspired to Work On
I am thrilled to join reDesign to amplify their social impact work and vision for redesigning education for the learners of today and tomorrow alike.
