CBL Curriculum Project: High School

The Power of Me & Where I’m From

Students explore the many parts of their identities as individuals and groups within Crosstown High School. While exploring and celebrating they will express themselves in writing and verbally using everyday language and ideas, as well as through new academic language and concepts.

Students will also examine identity conflicts between groups and individuals, identify their personal needs, listen to the needs of others, and use this information to create recommendations for building inclusive communities, via two policy briefs — one for Crosstown High School and one for the Memphis City Council — answering the essential question: How can we create an inclusive policy for a diverse school and city?

Students develop self-knowledge, design solutions, and take action.
